Molasses Cookies

I love it when I find things, recipes, ideas, etc. that I want to try.  I feel that I should share just in case the people in my world want to try it too - so I post it here and then share on Facebook.

Little Birdie Secrets is referencing a recipe from the Pioneer Woman's Blog that I will definately want to try this fall.  Find it here http://littlebirdiesecrets.blogspot.com/2010/09/our-favorite-fall-cookies.html ...and enjoy. I love both of these lady's blogs.

Priceless

What is more precious than taking a still photo of someone, your children, than taking it from the back of them while they are watching something (history being made) and not noticing that you are taking it.  This id my Parker Faith and Kristen's Brooke watching the halftime of the Red Oak 29-Waxahachie 20 game.  The score almost says it all. From what I know Red Oak has never beat Waxahachie so it is quite an accomplishment and a GREAT feeling knowing that we are on record, now, for beating the Indians under the direction of my wonderful husband and his coaching staff. Also on this day Coach Young, our quarterback coach, and his wife/my friend Evelyn had their precious first child...Ryker Burton Young.  It was a GREAT day!

Favors

It has been a while since we made and sent these adorable treats to school with Parker for her Valentine's Day at school, but they ARE the perfect treat for any "favor situation".
...and of course, I had to send her to school in something festive for the occasion so here she is posing (not) for me.  She didn't want to take a picture as you can see by the look on her precious face.

The Latest Tank

I love Faded Glory things from Wal-Mart. They wash well keeping their color and shape PLUS they are so cost effecient. I embellished a FG tank for a friend to give as a gift. I think it turned out really cute. I hope she does as well.

Things I have done since last post - long, long ago

I have been one busy mom/teacher since February. See a few things that I have made or created in the spare moments that I have had.
This is the ad that I made for Parker's dance recital program.

Parker Faith Shields - age 3

Banquet Invite that I created for the Hawkettes

Sierra & Parker at one of Sierra's drill team competitions

Two pillow cases I made for a friend to give to her nieces for graduation.

We found Sierra a first car from a wonderful family in Midlothian.  She loves it and is a great driver.

A tank I embellished for a birthday present - I, of course, had to make one for Parker as this was for one of her best little friends.  They turned out so cute!

Hope you had a Happy Valentines Day

We had a restful day here at the Shields house for Valentines Day.  The kids got a simple favorite.  Parker loved her My Little Pony Color/Sticker book with twist up crayons.  Colton is still loving his Reeces Peanut Butter Hearts...he likes to make blizzards with them.  Sierra is staying warm in the adorable cupcake lounge pants that she got.  Mike got me some DKNY Be Delicious perfume - I do love it!  I made Chicken Fried Steak Fingers - Mike's favorite on Saturday evening...enjoyed by all - including myself.  I then tried the Pioneer Woman's Simple Valentine idea for dinner last night.  Simple for her maybe, but anyway...we had spaghetti with red sauce and shrimp (I had to devein - ick), a ceaser salad with homemade croutons (they were delicious & so easy to make), & roasted garlic to spread on our french bread.  It really was a good Valentines Day Dinner and cost much less than the Olive Garden.

I just couldn't bear to put up my lighted trees on the front porch, so I decorated them for Valentines.
I love them..they just make me happy!  You will see them soon for Easter.

Too CUTE Not to Post...

The Cutest Sous Chef Ever

I love the enthusiasm my Parker Faith has when she wants to help cook.  She helped make the cornbread for the blackeyed peas and the noodles for Colton tonight.  Isn't she the cutest 3 year old sous chef ever and what a big help...thank you ParkerBear!

Birthday Week

Evelyn is taking the photo!
Turning 43 never felt so good thanks to my fabulous family and wonderful girl friends!  Thank you to everyone who shared this birthday with me - I will always cherish the time.
Steph is taking this photo!
We had a really good time at Trinity Hall at Mockingbird Station...very relaxing.  Thanks girls for the memories!

Gay Lynn took me to dinner on Saturday at Mi Cocina.  I had never been there...it is a delightful place with great fajitas...yum!  We then went to Home Goods and Target - needless to say I enjoyed my self.
Thank you Gay Lynn for the girl time!

Sweet Embellished T's

I knew that I wanted to embellish some simple t's for Zoe's birthday present - so when we were invited to the her 2 year birthday party the morning of,  I whipped 3 t's up rather quickly.  One for my precious Parker Faith (3yr) and two for Zoe Faith (2yr).  The difficult part for me is making decisions on what fabric combinations to use.  Here is what I came up with.

Zoe's mommy loved the t's, but especially the cupcake one.

Pottery Barn Jackpot

I love surfing blogs for great ideas! Thank you to Shanty2Chic for posting the blog that I hope pushes me into making some furniture.  If you love Pottery Barn Furniture you MUST check out http://knockoffwood.blogspot.com/.  Ana, the editor at knockoffwood, is a carpenter who makes knock off furniture on the cheap...and she is generous enough to share her detailed plans with the blogging world! Not only does she offer the plans for FREE, she gives you the exact cutting deminsions, a supply list and detailed how to's on many techniques she uses when building! Shanty2Chic shares that Home Depot will cut everything for FREE as well, so why not make something.  Ana's plans are limitless - so many - where does a girl start...?  Maybe I can start with this bench - I am sure it would look great in my house.

I would love to hear what you think...

Tutu Cute

I was so excited when my great friend, Stacey, asked me to make her, soon to be two, daughter's (Zoe Faith) birthday party invitation.  It is for a small intimate group at home.  I am very happy with how it turned out as is Stacey.  FYI ...I used photoshop elements 7 and Stacey's  sweet, sweet pictures to create it.

Mike's Office Picture

I have to share what I created for my Mike (the best father, husband, friend, and so much more) for Christmas .  Let me just say that he would rather money not be spent on him, so I got in the kids Christmas photo shoot so that I could make a poster/framed art for his new office (not in it yet - but soon).  I have found that COSTCO has a poster printing machine onsite and the prices and options are great.  I  bought a simple frame at Target that will be great in his office (kind of manly) and I look forward to seeing him enjoy it.

Home Remedy

GOOD MORNING!!!  Back to work I go....I knew that I would be up in the chair without some form of acid reflux medicine last night.  So I IM'd my great friend Steph and she directed me to the Arm&Hammer box.  Well, needless to say, with a box as small as it - I didn't find a remedy on the box...so I went directly to the web source and found their solution.  IT WORKED!!!  I am so excited!  Check it out yourself. http://www.armhammer.com/basics/magic/#12

Before and After

Checkout http://thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com/2010/01/coming-in-2010.html for the Thrifty Decor Chick's 1st Before and After event of the year. It can be anything as long as you have a before and after shot. I cannot wait to see what everyone has done - I love seeing your ideas, not sure that I will have one for this first one - but maybe.... Her first Linky will be up this evening, and she will be doing this the first Monday of every month.

...And, one thing that you may notice about me...anytime I have an opportunity to share a picture - I will. Here is a photo of Sierra (my beautiful 16 year old) with her Aunt Dee and Mollee-Jingle on adoption day. Sierra loves them both!
